New programme - Traces: Stories of Migration

Sign up for a new 6 week craft and textile course - no experience of art or sewing required!

Traces: Stories of Migration is an opportunity to explore your own, your family’s, your friend’s or your neighbour’s migrant journeys through textile crafts and practices. Traces will unite the memories and experiences of our local communities, revealing the patterns this has woven into the tapestry of the East End. No sewing or art experience is required.

You will work with artist Lucy Orta and London College of Fashion Textiles students on a 6-week project to explore your creative side, learn new skills and meet new people.

When is it?

Traces will take place every Monday, starting on 17th May and finishing on 28th June. There will be a week off for half term. The session will start at 11:00am and finish at 2pm (with a lunch break 12:30-1pm). This is a 6-week, 3 hours per week programme and you would be enrolling for all sessions. We understand that things come up, and so will record and share sessions with enrolled participants – just in case.

Where is it?

Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, workshops will be delivered both online and by small opt-in face-to-face workshops, starting on 17th May and finishing on 28th June.
